Christina Applegate in Basic Black

31. January 2008 | Filed under Boots, Celebrity Style
Christina Applegate

A far cry from her slutty teenage fashions on “Married With Children,” Christina Applegate looked very classy at the premiere of “Over Her Dead Body.’

Wearing a simple black dress and gold jewelry, Christina almost looks looks matronly. Though I like her outfit a lot, Christina really could have left the boots and black nail polish at home. The tall black boots really don’t do this ensemble any justice. With the length of the skirt, she would have been much better off with a classic black pump or even a high heeled sandal.

Despite her footwear faux pas, Christina’s hair and makeup looks better than I’ve seen it in quite awhile. She oftentimes appears so disheveled that this look is certainly a big improvement.

Next time, if she can just do something about her shoes, Christina can pull it all together. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate tall flat boots - I just hate them with this outfit. With jeans tucked into them, or with a minidress and tights, these boots would have been just fine.

Victoria Beckham in Boston Promoting dvb

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham was out at Saks Fifth Avenue in Boston today. She greeted fans, posed for pictures and promoted her dVb by Victoria Beckham denim and sunglass collections.

The line was produced by Victoria, along with Western Glove Works, the company behind 1921 jeans.

I know Posh has always been thin, but she’s so skinny now that she might be fading away. Here, in all black, she looks even more tiny than usual. And that big cinching belt doesn’t help matters. She does have on a cute pair of peep-toe shoes. As is the norm with Victoria, even if she’s wearing a bad outfit, she usually has fairly good taste in shoes.

Victoria was asked recently by the Boston Globe about the outfits she used to wear with the Spice Girls.

“I like to think it was all good at the time,” said Victoria. “But I’ll look at the makeup and think ‘My God, look at all that bloody makeup’ or ‘Look at that hair.’ So I’ll cringe a little bit. When I look back on all those pictures, I realize that’s what made me who I am now. I’m proud of that.”

It’s funny that she doesn’t realize that people still cringe at her fashion choices. It wasn’t that long ago she was wearing the outfit below. Umm … cute T-straps.

Hayden Panettiere Goes to Lunch in DC

29. January 2008 | Filed under Hayden Panettiere, Patent Leather, Peep-Toes

Hayden Panettiere is so cute. Here she strolls in Washington DC on her way to go eat at California Pizza Kitchen. Why we, as a nation, are so obsessed with stars that we follow them around to lunch, I don’t know. But hey, I love seeing what they are wearing!!

Hayden Panettiere

Here, Hayden is pulled together with a white double-breasted corduroy coat with big buttons. This trench coat has a very unique style with its turtleneck collar. And Hayden wears it very well.

Though I’m not a fan of the huge handbag trend, this one Hayden is carrying isn’t that bad. At least it doesn’t over power her whole body.

I love her straight black skirt and the classy peep-toe pumps. Highlighting a very conservative outfit with a pair of slick patent leather pumps is always a big plus in my book. It gives the whole ensemble just a touch of necessary glamour.

Angelina: Is She Pregnant?

28. January 2008 | Filed under Angelina Jolie, Celebrity Style, Eva Longoria
Angelina Jolie - Brad Pitt

Angelina’s long frock of a dress at the SAG Awards fueled rumors that she is pregnant. Over the last few weeks, rumors have been been spreading like wild fire that she is expecting twins. Other rumors are that Brangelina are adopting a Hurricane Katrina orphan.

Whether she’s pregnant or not, she still looked radiant in her tie-dye style flowing gown.

My biggest complaint about these award shows is the gowns cover up the shoes. Because the gowns often flow to the ground and beyond, we don’t know what kind of shoes these ladies are wearing. They could be wearing a fabulous elegant evening sandal or a pair of sneakers and we’d never know!

Angelina’s gown wasn’t even in my top three from the SAG Awards. Here are some of my favs:

Amanda Bynes
Wow she looks just adorable in this Bohemian inspired gown. What I love about her gown is it’s so different that everyone else’s attire. Though she’s young, Amanda has a very keen sense of style and always looks fabulous.

Kate Beckinsale
I’m so envious of the ladies that can pull off yellow. It’s definitely not my color. However, here Kate makes it look just gorgeous. I love the skirt of this dress. The tiers flow so nicely. She complements her gown well with lots of glitzy bracelets and a pin at her waistline.

Eva Longoria
Eva looks radiant in this open-back white gown embellished in silver. Eva is looking a lot more curvy these days. She finally has some roundness to her butt. I know Eva said that she’s gained 10 pounds during the strike, but could she be expecting? I wonder if the little Longoria-Parkers will want to act or play basketball. Probably both! I did see a strappy platform peeping out from under Eva’s dress.

Sexy and Stylish Eva Longoria

25. January 2008 | Filed under Celebrity Style, Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria is one of my favorite gals. Not only is she married to a younger man (like I am) but she is also very stylish. Though sometimes her outfits miss, most of the time she looks hip and chic.

Here, as she prepares for a guest appearance on the “Richard and Judy Show” in London yesterday, she not only looks chic, but also looks sexy! Get a load of those fabulous seamed stockings.

Eva Longoria

Patterned stockings look great if you wear them with an outfit that isn’t too busy. And Eva does just that. Her simple black mini-mini-dress is trimmed nicely in gold and so are her fantastic pumps.

She accessorizes very well too - from her big sunglasses to her black patent clutch. Embossed bags are in right now. Whether its snake, python or croc, black, bright or metallic, it doesn’t really matter.

Though I love the dress and the stockings, I really can’t get enough of her shoes. The black pumps feature a hidden platform and gold hardware that’s very trendy right now.

What’s that on the inside of Eva’s wrist you ask? That’s a tattoo of her wedding date (July 7, 2007) in roman numerals. Her superstar basketball player hubby has the same tattoo around his ring finger - just in case he’s ever without his ring (like when he’s on the basketball court!).

Roland Mouret Haute Couture Fashion Show

Roland Mouret Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2008 Fashion Show

Here we see Dita Von Teese, Claudia Schiffer and Victoria Beckham at the Roland Mouret Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2008 fashion show in Paris on Wednesday.

All three ladies are looking fab behind their big sunglasses - each one with a completely different look.

Dita is looking lovely with her pale complexion and signature red lips and nails. She wears navy right with this stuffy yet sexy navy dress. The gold brooch is a great touch of class and you can’t help but love her black patent shoes with the bow detail.

Posh … I am mean Victoria looks like she’s fading away from lack of nourishment. Is it my imagination or is her hairline receeding? Nevertheless, her clothes look fabulous (which is not always the case). The silver ensemble is accented nicely with her white/silver fur. And I just love her shoes! Hidden platform pumps are very popular right now and this purple pair is gorgeous.

My favorite look of the three is Claudia in the middle. Her leopard accessories complement the rest of her outfit very nicely. The belt features a bold rhinestone buckle and the clutch is the perfect size. On her feet are a pair of gold open-toe Mary Janes. Personally, I wouldn’t have thought to wear them with such dark hose, but the look is fantastic. Check out the close-ups of all three women’s shoes below.

Paris at “The Hottie and the Nottie” Premiere

Paris at “The Hottie and the Nottie” Premiere

Paris Hilton is really a beautiful woman. Most of the time, I like her fashion sense, but her look here misses the mark.

At the “The Hottie and the Nottie” premiere in Dallas on Tuesday, Paris’ outfit is just all wrong. I really love the coat and it could have looked really hot! But here, it’s just paired up with everything else wrong. The yellow bubble dress is perfect for spring, but not for a winter party. I would have loved to seen Paris wear this coat with a fitted black dress and a pair of black and white shoes.

As an alternative, the white coat would have looked great over a red dress partnered with a pair of silver jeweled sandals and a great evening clutch.

Despite her mismatched ensemble, her hair and makeup look great. Paris, if you ignore all her antics, is a classic beauty. Hopefully she doesn’t burn herself out too soon.

“The Hottie and the Nottie” is about a woman who refuses to marry her longtime boyfriend until he finds the perfect man for her ugly friend.

Paris must really love her white coat. She wore it two nights earlier at the “The Hottie and the Nottie” dinner in Park City, Utah. It looks much better with her dark blue tunic mini-dress with silver metallic trim.

Mandy Moore in Yigal Azrouel

22. January 2008 | Filed under Mandy Moore, Peep-Toes, pumps
Mandy Moore

One of the biggest trends right now is the one shoulder dress. This is a sexy look for just about any woman and here Mandy Moore wears it well with this Yigal Azrouel black dress.

Her look is simple and classy, yet sexy. I am not very fond of her shoes, however. Though the black patent is eye-catching, all the straps really aren’t necessary. A simple pair of peep-toe pumps or perhaps a metallic sandal would have worked better.

She definitely looks better than last time I saw her in Yigal Azrouel (see the pink dress below).

On a side note, condolences to Heath Ledger’s family. Word out of New York is that the 28-year-old actor, co-star of the Oscar award-winning movie “Brokeback Mountain” was found dead in his residence.

Apparently Ledger was found by the housekeeper and a masseuse who arrived in th afternoon for an appointment. Ledger and his former girlfriend Michelle Williams have a two-year-old child. He also portrayed The Joker in the upcoming Batman movie “Dark Knight,” which is set to be released later this year.

Hilary Swank & Christina Ricci at The Palazzo Opening

21. January 2008 | Filed under Hilary Swank, Patent Leather, Peep-Toes, pumps

Hilary Swank and Christina Ricci kept it simple when they attended the opening of The Palazzo Las Vegas last week. Both wore solid color dresses with coordinating pumps and gold jewelry.

Hilary Swank - Christina Ricci

Hilary wore a very basic brown turtleneck sweater dress. The look is very flattering on her. I love the sleeves on this dress. It’s much more appealing that it would have been with fitted sleeves. Her shoe choice is a beige suede pump.

To liven up her look, she could have chosen a print pump or a darker brown shoe. But overall, her look is simple and classy.

Christina on the other hand … eh … I’m not loving this dress at all. The neckline makes her look flat chested than she really is and the dress doesn’t flatter her body style at all. She also should have changed her nail polish color. It stands out too much and clashes with her more natural makeup.

All is not lost, I do like her hair. The blunt bangs and sandy color look very nice on her, plus her makeup is done well. If she would have chosen a fitted sweater dress or even a print trapeze dress and a peep-toe pump or strappy sandal, her overall look would have been great.

Katherine Heigl Dazzling in Red

Katherine Heigl in Dazzling in Red

The beautiful Katherine Heigl was on the “Late Show with David Letterman” last night promoting her new movie “27 Dresses.” She wore a pretty winter white coat over her lovely red dress. Don’t you just love the pleated skirt?

Katherine almost always looks pulled together, whether she’s dressed casually or glamorous. On the show, she talked with Letterman about the movie, her winter wedding, and about how her new husband, Josh Kelley, lost his wedding ring.

With this ensemble, she does glamour right from head to toe with her dangling earrings down to her peep-toe pumps.

One thing I love about her accessories is she doesn’t try to do too much. Necklaces or other jewelry would have taken away from her fabulous look. Her glitzy earrings are complemented perfectly with the embellished shoes.

Right now you can find a lot of peep-toe pumps that have accents right above the peep, such as bows, rhinestones and other touches of glitz. These type of shoes are perfect for dressing up even the most drab of outfits. You can choose patent leather, satin, silk pumps or a variety of other great fabrics.
