Paris Hilton in Beverly Hills

29. February 2008 | Filed under Boots, Paris Hilton

Outside the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills on Thursday, Paris Hilton looked casual yet chic.

Paris Hilton in Beverly Hills

Wearing jeans tucked into her boots and a black DCMA Collective T-Shirt, Paris carried her clear plastic shopping bags (probably not very eco-friendly). One thing that’s hysterical is that in her shopping bag, you can clearly see that she has a copy of the new issue of People magazine with “Nicole’s Baby Girl!” on the cover. It just makes me laugh that she’s reading up her friend Nicole. She probably could have just asked her to see the “exclusive” photos. :)

People Magazine - Nicole’s Baby Girl

Though I do like Paris’ high heel knee-high black boots, they are very scuffed in the front. And considering that she probably has hundreds of pairs of black boots, she shouldn’t wear them. Even for the most casual occasions, there’s no reason to look tacky … particularly when you can afford not to do so!

Nevertheless, Paris still looks pulled together and stylish, even dressed down. From her sunglasses to her black patent handbag, she looks modern and chic.

Mariah Carey’s Racy Red Shoes

28. February 2008 | Filed under Celebrity Style, Platforms, wedges

As Mariah Carey arrived at MTV’s Total Request Live in New York City yesterday, she looked very sexy in her jeans.

Mariah Carey

Wearing a quilted shiny black jacket over a low-cut red top and faded jeans, Mariah took casual to a whole other level. Her outfit was flirty and fun - from her sunglasses to her red platform wedges.

For women who don’t like to wear bold colors all over, there’s plenty of lessons to learn from Mariah’s outfit. She wears just enough of bright red to make a statement without it being completely overwhelming.

Her shoes really finish off the look in wild style. Bright red platform sandals are a great way to glam up jeans or any other neutral outfit. If you want to add some pizazz to your everyday look, red shoes are a great way to do it!

Mariah was showing all her assets from head to toe!

Heidi Klum Shining in Silver

27. February 2008 | Filed under Celebrity Style, Evening Shoes

The Oscars have been over for several days, but there’s still so much to talk about. At the 16th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards party, the stars were out and about looking stylish, sexy and chic. Here Heidi Klum lights up the night in her sexy, silver metallic Roberto Cavalli minidress. It was a big change from her red Dior dress that she wore to the actual Awards show.

Heidi is silver from head to toe with her big silver drop earrings, silver wristlet bag, silver cuff bracelet and even her silver metallic peep-toe pumps. I love this silver all over look for her. It complements her skintone, plus her hair and makeup look great.

Another woman who was stunning in Roberto Cavalli on Oscar night was Kelly Preston. Her yellow dress was turning heads all night (or maybe it was her cleavage … her push-up bra certainly is doing its job).

Kelly also choose to wear silver evening shoes and jewelry, which look wonderful with her fabulous dress. John was also looking quite dapper himself.

Lucy Liu in Paris

26. February 2008 | Filed under Celebrity Style, Sandals
Lucy Liu

Here Lucy Liu attends the opening party of a new Yves Saint Laurent store in Paris. Though I like Lucy, this dress isn’t attractive at all. The length of the skirt is all wrong for her. She needs something shorter to lengthen her legs. Here they look stubby because the dress hit her leg mid-calf.

The skirt is also too bubbly. It makes her shoulders look narrow and her body disproportioned. Lucy looks much better when she wears a more fitted style. Also, all black makes her look extremely pale - maybe it’s just the lighting. I’m not even going to mention the BIG cinched belt - UGH! Overall this dress gets a big thumbs down.

Let’s look for some redeeming qualities in Lucy’s outfit … her jewelry and her shoes are great choices. She also carries a small black and gold clutch in her hand that is probably adorable (if we could see it up close).

Her patent leather T-strap sandals are terrific. The crisscross styling is very popular right now and we’ll see it in many sandals for Spring, whether they are patent, linen or anything in between. The thing I like most about Lucie’s look is her bracelet! The woven gold cuff is just perfect for her. She could wear it with anything from an evening dress to jeans and it would look chic.

Oh well, better luck next time with the dress, Lucy!

Diablo Cody Refuses Million Dollar Shoes; Wears Her Own

25. February 2008 | Filed under Academy Awards, Celebrity Style

Diablo CodyDiablo Cody decided to wear her own shoes to the Oscars on Sunday night. Each year since 2002, a celebrity is selected to wear a pair of shoes encrusted with Kwait diamonds.

Though the shoes were presented to Diablo by Stuart Weitzman last week, Cody insisted that she had no idea that they were worth over a million dollars, or that she was expected to wear them on Oscar night.

On her MySpace page last week, Diablo wrote:

“…NEWS TO ME, kids. I must have somehow missed the part where my shoes cost a MILLION FUCKING DOLLARS and my “choice” of footwear would be publicized nationwide. I honestly thought they were just sparkly shoes. Mr. Weitzman did mention that the diamonds were real when I tried them on, but I’m not Nancy Rockman, Expert Gemologist. I didn’t, you know, bust out my miniature spyglass and assess the potential worth of my kicks.

I’m actually really pissed about this, now that I think about it. They’re using me to publicize their stupid shoes and NOBODY ASKED ME. I would never consent to a lame publicity stunt at a time when I already want to hide.”

When she arrived at the Academy Awards on Sunday, many thought she would have changed her mind and wore the shoes. However the stripper-turned-screenwriter stuck to her guns and decide to wear a pair of simple gold shoes under her leopard print Dior dress.

After taking home the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for “Juno”, Diablo noted, “It was the silliest thing. Nobody asked me, nobody talked to me, it was just this crate in the room with my name on it.

“(I wore my) regular shoes … I’m actually not sure (how much they cost), but I’m sure it is nowhere near a million dollars. If I had a million dollars I would help people.”

Salma Hayek at De Grisogono’s Hollywood Dominos

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek was one of the many celebrities that attended De Grisogono’s Hollywood Dominos Benefiting The Art Of Elysium in Beverly Hills.

Though I normally like Salma, I hate this look. Her lipstick is too bright, that necklace is gaudy and, though her shoes are cute, they look like they are too big for her. It looks like she has about an inch between her heel and the back of the shoe. Weird! I’m sure Salma can afford her own shoes, so she shouldn’t be wearing someone else’s.

Nevertheless, there are some decent things about her ensemble. The hairstyle is becoming; I’m getting used to her with the the shorter look. The velvet dress is nice. It flatters her figure without being too tight or too short.

I adore her black patent clutch and slick patent leather shoes (if they fit). I’m not usually a fan of fishnet stockings (except in the bedroom) but Salma wears them well.

If she would have left that awful yet expensive necklace at home, I probably wouldn’t have nitpicked the rest of her outfit. What do you think?

Paris and Nicky Hilton at Nicolas Bergguens Annual Party

21. February 2008 | Filed under Paris Hilton

Paris and Nicky Hilton were spotted at Nicolas Bergguens party on Wednesday. Paris was wearing an interesting black and white dress while Nicky donned a black suit.

Paris and Nicky Hilton at Nicolas Bergguens Annual Party

Paris’ loose fitting dress features some round lace white applique detailing down the front and around the hem. I don’t mind it at the hem, but I’m not crazy about it on the front the dress. It’s not flattering at all.

What I do love is how Paris mixes the textures in her outfit. The white lace hemline falls nicely against her black striped hose. And of course, I just adore her black patent platform pumps.

Though Nicky’s ensemble is much more conservative, she still looks very chic. Her white and gold low-cut top adds a lot of glamour to an otherwise boring black suit.

I’ll give it to her that she knows how to accessorize - the bright blue clutch and sexy open-toe pumps are great additions to her outfit.

Overall they both look good, but am still not fond of the black nail polish that Paris (and tons of other celebs) are wearing these days.

Hilary Swank Honored at Unforgettable Evening

20. February 2008 | Filed under Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank

Hilary Swank is quickly becoming one of my favorite ladies in Hollywood. Her class and sophistication is setting her above the rest.

At Saks Fifth Avenue’s “Unforgettable Evening” benefiting the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund, Hilary looked simply stunning from head to toe.

Hilary was honored at the event at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, where Mary J. Blige also performed. Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Felicity Huffman, Lisa Rinna, Lori Loughlin, Angie Harmon, Christian Slater and Natalie Cole were among many other celebrities that attanded the event.

Hilary looked beautiful in her very glitzy jewelry and neutral silk dress, which draped very nicely on her, falling just above her knee. From her glorious wavy hair to her simple sandals, everything about her looked good.

I love her choice in shoes. Though many women would have gone for a peep-toe pump or strappy heel, she choose a monochromatic look as her sandal matched her dress very nicely.

Amanda Bynes & Reese Witherspoon at the “Penelope” Premiere

20. February 2008 | Filed under Celebrity Style, pumps

At the “Penelope” premiere in Los Angeles on Wednesday, Amanda Bynes and Reese Witherspoon both looked fabulous in two completely different outfits.

Amanda BynesReese Witherspoon

Amanda’s short black dress certainly was eye-catching and she definitely knows how to accessorize well. The simple pendant necklace, contrasting clutch handbag, and black patent pumps are just perfect. Her makeup and hair are both done very well - though she could lose a little length on her locks and look much better.

While Amanda looked crisp and glamorous, Reese had a completely different look. Wearing skinny black pants and a matching jacket with big buttons, Amanda gives her outfit a lot of pizazz by choosing deep purple pumps and a lighter purple bubble top. Notice how these colors perfectly match the “Penelope” sign behind her?

This outfit is much more casual than Amanda’s look, but Reese still looks pulled together. Her natural makeup and simple ponytail are ideal to complete her look.

No matter how different the ladies appear, they both look fantastic. Kudos!

Lindsay Lohan Walks on the Wild Side

Lindsay Lohan Walks on the Wild Side

Lindsay Lohan seems to be almost falling down from the weight of her bags while shopping in Los Angeles. If she’s not on her way to the airport, she really shouldn’t be carrying this many bags. (And even then, maybe she should just pay someone to carry them for her.)

Lindsay looks casual yet cute with her long sweater over leggings. What really makes her outfit standout is her leopard print shoes.

Leopard flats are extremely popular right now as animal prints are everywhere from hats to handbags (and of course shoes). Wearing print shoes and accessories is a great way to get a little wild without the prints being overwhelming like they might be in a dress or top.

In addition to leopard ballet flats, also consider leopard pumps and other animal print heels. They can be worn with the most casual outfit or even with glamorous evening wear.
