Some of the recent shoe trends have struck me as pretty ugly. Like I don’t own any true gladiator sandals and I’m pretty sure I’m not going to run out and buy a pair of over the knee boots. Heck, I can’t even bring myself to buy a pair of flats unless they’re running shoes. But I can’t assume that everyone has my sense of style, in fact I know it’s quite the opposite. I also know that many people have no sense of style and are willing to follow any trend that heads down the river.  Unfortunately sometimes these people are celebrities and their fashion missteps make the news.

Anna Paquin is apparently one of those people who grew up in the Hollywood spotlight and never got to find her way through the fashion world and when she does try to dress herself she comes up short. This dress is really an eye catcher, and not in the best way, but it’s the shoes that make me cringe. These black platform sandals just don’t belong with this sparkly gold dress. There are way too many gold and nude sandals out there to excuse this shoe choice.

Another Hollywood starlet who didn’t get the memo about black shoes not being a neutral was Cameron Diaz. Her open toe pumps let her matching red toenail polish show but she would have been better off wearing matching red shoes than these clunky looking black ones. There are so many different ways she could have gone here and improved upon her look but the black pumps definitely brought the look down.
