Menswear for Women

Menswear for Women

I’ve said it before and it looks like I’m going to say it again, mens shoe styles for women is a big trend in shoes this season. Women’s styled menswear oxfords have always been knocking around the edges of fashion, typically they’re combined with high heels to give that dichotomy of feminine and masculine a sexy kick. But with the increase in popularity of flat soled shoes over the last year we’re seeing more women’s menswear shoes with flat soles.

The problem with women wearing menswear styles shoes that don’t have a heel or a cut out or something “feminine” the shoes lose their sex appeal and become too masculine. The only way to contradict this is to select your clothing appropriately. The instinct is to wear something a bit more professional or masculine, like a suit with your masculine shoes. This can be a big mistake, especially if the suit doesn’t have a number of feminine touches. Stick to pumps and heels when wearing a sleek women’s suit. But wear more masculine shoes with a flirty skirt to give your look a little gender bending twist.

When playing with masculine style there always has to be a careful balance of ultra feminine and a touch of masculine or else you risk ruining the look and coming off too manly.
