Oprah Winfrey

Oprah Winfrey recently had a show dedicated to selecting the right accessories to make you look better, taller, and thinner. Of course the most important accessory is the shoe and Oprah came up with a list of six shoes that every woman must have.

Black Pump

The black pump is such a neutral standby it can brought out in almost every occasion and with a huge variety of outfits. Make sure your black pump is super comfortable and keep it clean, if it gets scuffed it’s time to get a new pair.

Comfortable Flat

Oprah recommends a comfortable flat. Now it’s hard for me to get behind a flat, even though they’re quite popular these days, but I must admit I have a pair or two that I slip into if I have to run errands. So select a flat that feels great and still looks nice when you’re on the go.

Evening Shoe

This is where most people go overboard, the sexy designer shoe that makes a statement and outshines your outfit. Every woman should have one pair of evening shoes for those special evenings out, and as I always say, the more the merrier.

Sleek Comfort Sneaker

A sleek comfort sneaker doesn’t mean a running shoe or a cross trainer, it means a comfortable sneaker type shoe that has a narrow profile and gets you where you want to go without breaking a sweat.

Tall Boot

The tall boot is basically anything from mid calf up. This season the over the knee boot has gained a lot of attention, Oprah’s warning here is to get a flat soled one to avoid looking too much like Pretty Woman, in other words, Hooker Heels. The safest bet is a pair of boots that rest just below your knee.

All Weather Boot

The all weather boot is on Oprah’s list of must have shoes but I don’t know that it’s really a requirement. She lives (part of the time) in the Midwest, where I do, and yes I have winter boots but I don’t know that people who live in warmer climates necessarily need all weather boots. I think this could be skipped by many and maybe the money would be better spent on another pair of evening shoes.
